BEAMING interviews at Educons University in the function of strengthening knowledge valorization practices

During December 2025, Educons University successfully conducted a set of interviews with key actors within the BEAMING project, dedicated to strengthening institutional capacities for knowledge valorization and technology transfer. The interviews were conducted in accordance with the work package WP8 – Knowledge Valorization and represent an important step in the assessment of the existing practices, challenges and development needs of the university in this area.

The following took part in the interviews:

Prof. Dr. Andrea Andrejević Panić, vice-rector for science and international cooperation,
Prof. PhD Simonida Vukadinović, head of the Center for Circular Economy,
Prof. Dr. Jelena Ješić, coordinator of cooperation with the economy,
Asst. Dr. Zoran Brljak, coordinator of the Tech Transfer Hub.
Jovana Kisin, Project Incubator Hub coordinator
The interviews were conducted by Danica Mulić, a member of the BEAMING project team.

The results of the interviews indicate significant progress of Educons University in the development of knowledge transfer mechanisms, including the strengthening of the Tech Transfer Hub, the improvement of cooperation with the economy and local communities, the development of digital tools and methodologies, as well as the establishment of new centers and specialized laboratories, such as the Center for Microplastics. It was also pointed out that today the University cooperates with a network of over 50 companies, with regular meetings of the Board of Directors, which participate in strategic planning.

The need for additional formalization of internal procedures, the strengthening of researchers’ capacities in the field of intellectual property protection and commercialization, as well as the improvement of the system for monitoring the impact of research results were identified as key challenges. Special emphasis was placed on the importance of training in the field of IP management, communication with the economy, standardization and preparation of patent documentation.

The collected findings will be integrated into further activities of the BEAMING project and will contribute to the improvement of the institutional framework for knowledge transfer, whereby Educons University confirms its commitment to innovation, partnerships and socially responsible research.
